Our Daily Schedule
During the session, children spend the first 45 minutes exploring and discovering through play-based learning. During this time the children are free to play in the 4 distinct play spaces, see more about those HERE. From those play spaces the children will be able to learn skills that will help them transition into Kindergarten.
The remaining 45 minutes focus on structured group learning, reinforcing social norms, and introducing pre-academic concepts such as literacy, pre-math skills, table skills, math patterning, scissor skills, sound recognition, etc. We also continue to help guide children through the progression of the natural stages of play (Learn more about those here) .

Every week there are thought provoking activities set up at each learning station. You will see those highlighted below on our daily schedule example. You will also see what activities the director has planned to do with the children during circle time and art time. This schedule and these activities are very thoughtfully planned out by our director to make sure that we are helping our children reach their educational goals.

Pre Literacy
In the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, pre-literacy skills for 4 and 5-year-olds are nurtured through a holistic, child-centered method. Educators seamlessly integrate these skills into everyday activities, using hands-on tasks, storytelling, and exploration to introduce literacy basics. They employ Dolch frequency words to enhance familiarity, while sound recognition activities and interactive games deepen auditory discrimination and phonemic awareness. Sight words are introduced through various engaging methods, connecting meaning with written symbols. This approach not only fosters a love for learning but also establishes a robust foundation for future literacy.
Circle Time
Preschool circle time is a pivotal part of our daily routine, providing a focused period for learning and social development. During this time, children engage in interactive activities centered around essential concepts like colors, shapes, numbers, and letters. It serves as a dedicated moment for cognitive exploration, laying the foundation for future academic success. Beyond academics, circle time is a key opportunity for children to learn valuable social skills, teaching them how to interact and behave in a group setting with their peers. This intentional blend of academic and social learning aims to create a well-rounded educational experience, fostering both cognitive growth and positive social development.
Science
In Reggio Emilia-style preschools, science is all about hands-on exploration and curiosity. Children get to plant gardens, watch weather changes, and play with natural materials, all while learning about the world around them. Teachers encourage questions and help kids find answers through observation and fun experiments. By making science part of everyday play and discovery, these preschools spark a love for exploring and understanding how things work.
